Ryan Kent is an English winger who currently plays for Rangers, having joined the Scottish top flight club in September 2019 having joined from Premier League side Liverpool.
The 23-year-old attacking left midfielder began his youth career in the academy ranks of Liverpool, having joined the Merseyside club’s books at the age of seven. Kent signed a professional contract in March 2015 but despite being highly rated by staff at Liverpool, Kent managed just one appearance in the FA Cup third round in January 2016 during his time at Anfield, instead spending much of his time away from the club on loan.
First joining Coventry, where he made 17 league appearances in League One, Kent then joined Championship side Barnsley for the 2016/17 season and played 44 league games, scoring three goals.
Kent then spent the first half of the 2017/18 season on loan in Germany’s top flight at Freiburg, managing six Bundesliga appearances before being recalled and joining Championship side Bristol City for the remaining half of the season, playing 10 league matches for the club.
For the 2018/19 season, Kent joined Scottish Premiership side Rangers on a season-long loan, making 27 league appearances and scoring six times. Kent then returned to Anfield for pre-season this summer, with Rangers manager Steven Gerrard stating publicly he wished to resign him. After interest from elsewhere, Rangers permanently signed Kent in September 2019 and he has played 21 league games.
