Anthony Briancon is a French central defender and defensive midfielder who currently plays for Ligue 1 side Nimes, having spent his entire career at the club having come through the team’s youth academy setup.
The 25-year-old Avignon-born defender joined Nimes as a youngster and spent a number of years playing for the development ranks of the Occitanie club, breaking into the Nimes II reserve team squad in 2012 and over the following few seasons playing 30 league games for the second string side.
In 2014, Briancon made the step up to officially join the first team, making his Ligue 2 debut for the club against Creteil in May 2014 as a second half substitute in a 1-1 draw. It was the first of 159 league appearances for the club to date for the defensive-minded player, who has scored 14 goals during his time with Nimes.
Briancon has also helped the club to promotion to the French top flight during the 2017/18 season, followed by an impressive 9th place finish in Ligue 1 on the club’s return the following season, with Briancon establishing himself as a regular member of the squad anchoring both the central defensive position or pushed on in a defensive midfield role.
