When the ball nestled in the back of the Djurgarden net after a perfectly timed run and powerful header, it marked not just a 17th birthday to never forget for one local fan, but also the birth of one of Sweden’s brightest young talent’s growing reputation. That player was Alexander Isak.

Having already grabbed the opening goal in the Stockholm derby for AIK, taking a thoroughly ball confidently under his control and firing low and hard into the far corner, Isak’s second sent his side marching on their way to a memorable 3-0 victory over their bitter rivals.

Player Spotlight: Kosovare Asllani

Kosovare Asllani is a Swedish international forward who currently plays for CD Tacon in the Spanish top flight, a club which is set to become the women’s side of Real Madrid from July 2020.

The 30-year-old forward, who was born to Kosovar parents who had migrated to Sweden, began her youth career playing for local side Vimmerby, where she scored 49 goals in 48 matches. Following her success at the club, Asllani accepted a move to Damallsvenskan team Linkopings FC in 2007.

Player Spotlight: Alisha Lehmann

Alisha Lehmann is a Swiss international forward who currently plays for Women’s Super League side West Ham, having joined the London club in July 2018.

The 21-year-old forward began her career at local side FC Konolfingen, before moving in 2016 to join BSC YB Frauen, the top flight women’s team of Swiss side Young Boys.

Player Spotlight: Ben Foster

Ben Foster is an English goalkeeper who currently plays for Premier League side Watford, having been at the Hornets since his move in July 2018 from West Brom.

The 36-year-old goalkeeper, who has eight senior caps for England to his name, began his career playing for local club Racing Club Warwick, becoming the side’s first choice goalkeeper despite his young age, before being spotted by the scouting department at Stoke.

Player Spotlight: Guillaume Khous

Guillaume Khous is a French-born Liechtenstein youth international who currently plays as an attacking midfielder for Bourg-Peronnas in the third tier of French football.

Born in Tremblay-en-France, a suburb in the north east of Paris, the 27-year-old began his career playing in the youth ranks of local side US Torcy. From there, Khous made his senior debut in the fourth tier National 2 with JA Drancy, playing just one league match before joining the reserve side of Lens, who played in the same division. Khous made 21 league appearances for Lens’ reserve team, before rejoining Drancy.
