After being largely expected the League Two season has now been officially concluded early

Project Restart has proven a headache for footballing officials in England just trying to safely schedule and host the remaining Premier League games, with a view towards neutral venues, no crowds and strict testing protocols. All of those aspects are vital to the safe restarting of the remaining 2019/20 fixtures but equally come with a significant and disruptive financial burden to clubs, both in ensuring the new measures are met and shouldering the losses of crowdless games and reduced revenue streams; enough to worry clubs even in England’s top division, let alone the fourth tier.

Amiens may become the most significant club in Europe soon because of a legal challenge

Relegation has been the major sticking point for so many league officials when deciding whether or not to try and restart the 2019/20 domestic season or simply call an end to the campaign. For many, the lack of existing precedent for disruption on the scale that has been caused by the coronavirus pandemic has left them concerned over making the wrong decision and being left open to legal challenge from the clubs who lose out, facing potentially crippling financial repercussions as a result.
